Uprising Trends in The Lift Industry
Our world is continuously evolving and more high-rising buildings are continuously constructed. There are over 12 million lifts in operation around the world which move over a billion people each day. Smart technologies are unstoppable as more communities adopt it. This circumstance resulted in the introduction of smart lifts as well that offer increased security, improved energy efficiency, and effective crowd management. Here are some of the uprising trends in the lift industry:
1. Connectivity
With the rise of internet connectivity also came the rise for internet-connected smart lifts. This technology is being developed to alert the companies on faults enabling lift operators to save money and time on repairs.
2. Cloud Predictive Maintenance
In the aim to provide a more efficient and effective service, this technology is now being developed to provide more comprehensive and proactive maintenance services to lifts. Cloud technology collects all the data from the lift and then analyze it. A comparison will be made to determine whether similar readings have indicated that a component is about to fail. Service engineers will then receive a message on their smart devices in real time which components need to be replaced.
3. Interactive Touch Panels
To give the passengers a more comfortable ride in the lifts, manufacturers are now developing technology for interactive touch panels to provide entertainment, cab indicator functionality, system monitoring, and emergency call.
4. Cable-Free Smart Lifts
As a continuous pursuit of green initiatives in the lift industry, cable-free smart lifts are now being developed. This type of lift is energy efficient and reduces carbon footprint impacts dramatically. It is typically made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic and powered by linear motors that can move cab up and down, forward and backward.
5. Intuitive Lift Technologies
As another way to save energy consumption, this technology offers smart-grouping and destination-based models with modern aesthetics. Smart grouping technology organizes commuters by grouping them based on their floor/zone preferences wherein passengers going to the same destination are assigned only to those elevators that serve that group of floors or zones. This system can reduce the overall traveling time by 40 percent and thus can reduce energy consumption by up to 27 percent. compared to conventional systems
6. Automated Vehicle Storage and Retrieval Technology
This technology offers maximized parking capacity through optimum utilization of space, ensures vehicle safety, and provides convenience to customers. It is usually used in areas where there are on-going renovations and construction projects. It is still considered to be a green initiative of the lift industry because car engines are shut off when it is being stored or retrieved in the parking system. The robotic system will provide the utmost convenience because it also saves time in retrieving the car because the robot will find it for the car owner.
